VILLAGE LIFE
The Story of Bridgham in Norfolk

by David O'Neale & Tony Dobbin
£25, 378 pages, 900 photographs mostly in colour.

'To open this lovely book is to draw very close to the pulse of England.'

Kevin Crossley-Holland (Award-winning children's author, poet and Norfolk resident)

Review of Village Life in Evergreen Magazine:

In that lovely part of Norfolk wherein it dwells the community spirit of Bridgham is legendary. Despite the fact that – or, perhaps, because – only around 350 people live there, in the last few years it has had two Viking re-enactment weekends, an Elizabethan banquet, a 1940s reunion, a celebration of 1,000 years of known village history, numerous art exhibitions and concerts, and demonstrations of tapestry and cross-stitch to which many local fingers contributed. It therefore comes as no surprise at all that Village Life by David O’Neale and Tony Dobbin (Taverner Publications) which is Bridgham’s story contains more than 900 photographs, is lavishly produced, and has the award-winning children’s author Kevin Crossley-Holland describing it as a lovely book whose opening draws the reader “very close to the pulse of England”. Oh, to live in Bridgham!
